- Dr. Serge Lazatin
Hello! My name is Dr. Serge Lazatin, your chiropractor. Let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley around the Glendale to Sunland area. Education and health has always been a top priority in my life. I went to Verdugo Hills High School where I graduated top of my class. I then earned my bachelor's degree at UCLA. I moved to the Bay Area and received my chiropractic degree from the very prestigious Palmer West Chiropractic College.
How I Became a Chiropractor
My first exposure to the chiropractic world was when I was 14 years old. I underwent a series of chiropractic treatments for the injuries I sustained from a car accident. After the accident, my neck and my lower back were in so much pain and spasm that I could not even put on socks. At the time, I was very irritable because I was an active teenager but I was restricted from doing the things I used to do before the accident.

About a week after the car accident,I was treated by a chiropractor. For most people, the is apprehension with having their necks get 'cracked'. For some reason, I was very calm and I was actually looking forward to that part of the treatment. Needless to say, I recovered from my injuries about 3 weeks after the car accident. That initial exposure fascinated me about the field of chiropractic.
For years throughout high school and college, my visit to the chiropractor was in the back of my mind. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the health field, perhaps a medical doctor or a cardiologist. For some reason, being a chiropractor did not really cross my mind even though it inspired me to pursue a career in health. As an undergrad student in UCLA, I was more concerned with being a medical doctor like the rest of my friends. However, my life was about to change once again as fate would have it.
On my way home for spring break in my junior year, while sitting in traffic in my Honda Civic at the 405, a tow truck hit me from behind. My car was totaled and left me with injuries more serious than my previous accident. Again, I sought the care of a chiropractor. This second exposure to chiropractic re-invigorated my interest in the field. I was once again rescued by chiropractic and was given my life back. The chiropractic field has given me so much. What a better way to be grateful than to be a chiropractor myself? I knew that after graduating from UCLA, I will go to a chiropractic school and become a chiropractor and help people just the way I was helped before.
After graduating, I took a year off and worked as a chiropractor's assistant. This was the first time that I was exposed to chiropractic not as a patient but as an observer to other chiropractic patients. What I saw in the office was very inspiring. I saw people's quality of life get better. People were healthier and happier. Most importantly, there was a deeper sense of relationship between the patient
and the doctor that I did not see anywhere else in the health field. People were more motivated to be healthy and were active in taking a lead role in their own health. After a year being a chiropractor's assistant, I ventured to the San Francisco Bay Area for 4 years to get my Doctor of Chiropractor degree. With my previous experience as a chiropractic patient and chiropractic assistant, my chiropractic education provided me with a strong foundation on my philosophy not only as a chiropractor, but as a health care provider and a healer.
Hobbies
I spend my free time working out and running. You can usually catch me in 24 Hour Fitness or running outside in Runyon Canyon, UCLA, Griffith Park, or Echo Park. I love going to the beach, going to the movies, and checking out different restaurants in the area. I like to watch concerts of different kinds of music.I like to stay fit and active but also like to stay at home and relax. I call treating patients a hobby because I love it so much. I like to see people get well and have them enjoy life the way it should be. That to me is the most rewarding thing I can do!
I chose chiropractic for the reason that I am very passionate about making people feel better and live longer and healthier lives. I welcome you to contact me with any questions you may have at: info@lucentchiropractic.com
Sincerely,
DR. SERGE LAZATIN
